Covid Knife
Project Type
Photography
Date
April 2023
This knife was initially intended to be a classic camp or bushcraft knife with a full tang and a drop point profile. However, my work on this knife was interrupted during covid, and a year later when I went back to work on it I found that the full tang which I had made to fit my hands before covid was way to small because of how much I had grown. I ended upturning the knife into a partial tang in order to make a handle big enough for my hands. For reference, full tang is when the material that makes the blade extends through the entire length of the handle. You can tell if a knife is full tang looking if the handle is made by scales attached to either side of the steel (you will see the stille in the middle of the spine). If you cannot see any steel and only the handle than it is partial tang.
